SHAVING

This is the most temporary hair removal method because it just merely cuts the hair off the surface of the skin. It does not make hair shaft darker, or darker, or make it grow faster or slower. But, the short hair shaft will be more noticeable because as it grows out, it has a blunt tip.

PLUCKING

Plucking hair using tweezers is one effective way of hair removal but can be time consuming. The hair shaft should be long enough to grasp with tweezers.

WAXING

Waxing is good for removing large amounts of hair in one time. Wax is warmed so that it can be easily spread over the skin in the direction of the hair growth. The hair then becomes embedded in the wax, which then cools and firms. The wax will then be quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

HAIR REMOVAL ELECTROLYSIS

This method involves inserting a fine needle in the hair follicle, and then applying an electrical current to the follicle root. It burns the root theoretically thus preventing hair growth. It may take several treatments to really destroy the follicle. This is a permanent hair removal method however it has several drawbacks. First, it is really hard to find an effective technician because there is no standardized licensing guideline for electrolysis. Second, electrolysis requires repeated sessions for 12 to 18 months. Finally, the side effects can include pain, infection, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation, and keloid formation.

HAIR REMOVAL WITH LASER

The laser works by emitting light different wavelengths, pulse widths, and energy output. The wavelengths that are used determine the skin structure it will affect such as melanin, veins or water. Laser treatments must be repeated because it does not cause permanent destruction of hair follicles but just retards the regrowth of hair.

Hair is found all over the human body. Humanoids of old times had longer, thicker body hair as a way of keeping warmth in times of cold. Human body hair has thinned out since then. Nonetheless, there are some who feel that they have too much hair on their body. This is especially true for those who intend to wear bikinis.

The recent fad of hair removal is seen a result of the modern bikini culture — bikinis are getting ever shorter, and covering less and less. In truth, hair removal (especially around the crotch) has been practiced in Middle Eastern countries for centuries, for reasons of proper hygiene and local customs. There is even evidence of such procedures dating as far back as 4000 to 3000 BC in India. The methods have not really changed in all that time, but the material used has.

Hair waxing is one of the most popular methods of hair removal. Common areas of application are the chest, back, and legs. The leg hair removal procedures are popular amongst bikini wearers, as the hair on the legs could look unsightly when exposed. At Hair Talks, waxing is offered for the removal of such unsightly hair.

Modern concepts of beauty have defined leg hair as unsightly. Specifically, lots of hair on the legs is a definite no-no, especially if you are in swim wear, and even more so if you are a woman. Hair removal for the legs is usually done with strip waxing, a method that uses a wax-based mixture to remove hair from the skin. The wax mixture is spread thinly over the target area, and cloth or paper strips are laid over it. After a few moments, the cloth or paper strips are quickly ripped off against the direction of hair growth. This removes the hair as it is pulled along with the wax. Another method is to spread a thick layer of wax, so removal can be done without paper or cloth strips. Either one may be painful for a short while, but nobody ever said achieving beauty did not take sacrifices. The area will then be hairless for about six to eight weeks, until the hair starts growing back.

Hair Talks has skilled hair removal therapists to minimize the discomfort associated with waxing. Visit Hair Talks and say hello to smooth, hairless legs! With Hair Talks, you can feel confident and beautiful in a bikini!

Hairs can grow in all the wrong places and to carefully remove them, you must know the score of the common methods used to remove these excess body hair.

Shaving

Shaving is the most easy and inexpensive way to remove body hair and is especially effective on the legs and underarms. Although safety razors provide a close shave, the results are temporary. After 2 to 3 days, hair starts to sprout again. Start by wetting the skin thoroughly, then apply a shaving gel or cream (soap is too drying) to keep the skin soft and moist. This prevents nicks and makes it easier to shave the hair. For shaving the legs, start at the ankle. Always shave in the opposite direction of the hair growth, drawing the razor up the leg. For underarm hair, you may have to stroke in several areas since it grows in many directions. For the bikini area, pull the skin fairly taut with the fingers of your free hand so the surface is flat. If you need to shave a specific area twice, apply additional gel or cream. Rinse the skin and gently towel dry. Use oil or moisturizer to finish. Never use a blunt razor or share a razor with someone else.

Waxing

Waxing is among the best ways to remove hair from the bikini area. This gives a clean, smooth surface and the longest-lasting results. Hair grows back finer because waxing pulls the hair out below the surface of the skin. The key to allowing wax to penetrate into the follicles (and provide the closest possible wax) is by relaxing (yes, just relax). Despite the stinging sound as the piece of cloth is stripped off, many women has vouched that its not as painful as it sound and looks.

Depilatory Creams

If you’re in a hurry to remove hair, depilatory creams are a good bet. They’re easy to apply and effective in the short run by removing hair just below the skin’s surface. Their disadvantage is that the chemicals that “burn off” hair can also cause skin irritation. Those with very sensitive skin may not be able to tolerate depilatory creams. To get the best results, first apply a warm washcloth to the area; this will soften the hair and open the follicles so the depilatory can be better absorbed. Never leave the cream on your skin longer than what’s recommended. Instead of rinsing, wipe it off with the washcloth and then rinse. If your skin breaks out, wash the area with an anti-bacterial solution and consult a doctor. Never, never apply it on an area that has any cuts, scratches or other wounds.

Laser

When used for hair removal, laser light hits the hair follicle. The contact results in the hair follicle being destroyed. Because the light is attracted to dark colors, those with light skin and dark hair often see the best results. Darker skin absorbs some of the laser light, which can cause burning. For these people, lower-level light is recommended, but often is less effective. Usually, this process results merely in a slow hair growth. However, multiple laser hair removal can successfully extend a hair-free period. Laser treatment can be expensive so choose wisely, know what results to expect, and go to a reputable practitioner.
