A change in the climate can surely cause hair problem and a hair infection. Aside from damaging the hair, our scalp can also be damaged. If you notice pus-filled scalp boils, flaking patches, and itchiness, then we might have a hair infection. The lice also breeds at this time and so some people tend to have lice infestations. Dandruff problems are also quite common.

We must be aware of the best hair care tips that we can use during the rainy season.

When it is rainy, the hair rarely grows and so your hair will look lifeless and dull. By using the right hair care system, we can bring back the beauty of our hair.

To avoid hair problem and hair infection, we must take a close look at our hygiene. We need to clean the scalp at least 4 times a week to keep away fungus and bacteria. How’s our diet? Try to eat more of red meat, nuts, veggies, and fruits and eat less of Trans fat, junk foods, and sugar. Eating protein rich diets can surely make our hair more beautiful and shiny.

There are also natural hair care habits that can help in enhancing the shine of the hair. We can apply mashed banana and the egg’s white portion. If nothing happens, it’s time to bring your hair problem to the experts. Professionals can help us with proper care for our hair. We will need to spend some money on the salons but you’re sure to get excellent service.

Don’t forget to put a protective hair spray on our wet hair. We can also put some anti-frizz product but just keep it light. We can also blow dry our hair and make sure that it is completely dry before we go out of the house. Instead of running our fingers through our hair, why not use a comb instead? Care for our hair is necessary especially for the rainy days. Since it is our crowning glory, we need to take good care of it. Don’t allow our hair to suffer from hair problems by using these tips.

Hair care does not have to be pricey. Actually, one can use common kitchen ingredients that could give our hair a deep moisturizing treatment.

Some homemade hair care treatments:

1. Hair rinses

Hair rinses bring back the hair’s pH. Having the right pH for the hair prevents the scalp from itching. One example of hair rinses is using vinegar. It removes the residue of shampoo and other hair products from the hair. It closes the cuticles as well.

Directions: Put 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 4 cups of water. Use this mixture as the final rinse of your hair. This will make your hair feel soft. This procedure is applicable for all hair types. Lemon juice is also an alternative that you can use in this procedure.

2. Dandruff remedies.

* Apply coconut oil on the scalp and leave it overnight.

* Put some olive oil and almond oil and massage into your scalp. Leave for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.

* You can also use the mixture of vinegar and water to the scalp.

3. Hair conditioners.

* Mash an avocado with an egg yolk. Apply to hair for 10-15 minutes, then with shampoo and conditioner.

* Mix an egg yolk with 1 teaspoon of castor oil. Massage into your hair followed by rinse.

* Put 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to hair and massage for 10 minutes. Put a shower cap then leave for another 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner.

It is also important to use warm water to open the follicles of the hair, before applying shampoo and conditioners. Then rinse with cold water to close the follicles.

As much as possible, do not use gel or mousse because these products contain alcohol, which might damage the hair and may cause hair problem in the future. To protect it from dryness because of chemicals, regularly massage hair and scalp with olive oil. On another hand, if a thick and shiny hair is what you wished for, then, get a coconut milk and massage it to the scalp. Wait for 30 minutes then rinse with shampoo and conditioner. Do this weekly.

Hi Carrie,

Kate here, first and foremost congratulations on the new blog. Anyway my dilemma is that I always wanted to wear my hair long, but its always seem to be in vain since I regularly snip it off to get rid of these ugly split ends. My hair will always be an inch below my shoulder and could no longer grow beyond that if I can’t find solutions for these nasty split ends. Tell me what to do Carrie.

Thanks,

Kate

Hello Kate,

Thank you for the question and for the warm greeting. I find that a lot of people can relate to your hair problem since I myself was a victim before. Split ends can be an annoying nightmare if its not treated right down to its cause. So let’s get to know more about our hair villain for the hour before I continue to discuss the cure.

Well, basically, split ends happen when the cuticle of your hair is damaged and the fibers of the cortex unravel. It nonetheless makes the hair dry, brittle and prone to tangling. I am sorry to say that whenever you get split ends, the only cure is to cut your hair off. Yes, snip – snip – snip.

Fortunately, there are a number of ways to control or prevent split ends before it starts to occur. If you shampoo daily, reduce the frequency since this is stressful to the hair. Always use a conditioner when washing your hair to avoid dryness. You may also try to get the tangles out by combing your hair after you have finished showering. In our everyday life, especially when we ride a jeepney on the way to work, the glorious wind and dust will usually tangle our hair stiff. To undo the mess, I pat a leave-on conditioner on my hair and comb the tangles out using a wide-toothed comb. If you like to use the hair blower, flat or curling iron to dry your damp hair, avoid not to do this everyday since this can really cause serious damage to your hair. I usually comb my wet hair with my trusty electric fan on instead of using the hair blower. However when you really need to use these hot styling tools, it’s ideal that use a hair serum to protect your main from drying out.

Always,
