The hairstyle changes with time. It’s like a cycle. For instance, the classic hairstyle is now being adapted by many people although there are also modern hairstyles these days. In the Philippines, the Filipiniana hairdo is quite popular long ago and it goes very well with the Filipiniana dress.

Imelda Marcos was once the first lady of the Philippines and hers is a great example of the Filipiniana hairdo. In the photo, you will notice that the hair is pulled up and at the back portion, the hair is arranged like a small ball. This is very common among Filipina in the olden times. The hairstyle is used both by the elite and the ordinary people. However, you can easily notice the elite class because of their beautifully arranged hair and astounding Filipiniana dresses.

Aside from that, some Filipino women also used the classic hairstyle called teased hair and the fly away hairstyle. These are both classic hairstyle and are also used to match with Filipiniana dresses. Such hairstyles are also known as Filipiniana hairdo and a lot of women follow it until today especially in special occasions. The teased hairstyle is achieved by using a teaser. The final look is a bit rough but women during that time loved it. The fly away hair is another great Filipiniana hairdo. It is achieved by dividing the hair at the middle. Hair gel or spray is used to maintain the fly away look of the hair. There are even times when the fly away style looks wet and the hair hardly moves.

Another notable classic hairstyle is the boys bob hairstyle.

The hair looks neat, happy, and is can be easily styled according to men’s desires. The hair is divided at the middle portion and with bangs.

The Filipiniana hairdo seem to have withstood the test of time and until now, you can still see women wearing such hairstyles. Even salons and beauty centers are aware of the Filipiniana hairdo because during special occasions, some women request for it.

Classic hairstyle will surely live on in the years to come and it’s not a surprise since the younger generations are always open to experiment on their hairdos. The internet also provides information sources and pictures so that the people today can see what the classic styles look like. Culture is very important in the Philippines and such hairstyles are already part of the country’s pride.

There are different ideas to each trade and hair styling is not an exemption. A lot of ladies find themselves falling into a trap when it comes to hair style because they assume many of the famous looks nowadays are too hard to handle. Nothing can be further from the reality.
Below are hair ideas on the most common hair styling these days.

Slicked Back

To obtain a finished slicked back look that is smooth, the key is to wash the hair with lukewarm water for some minutes before applying a hair styling product. The use of moisture and heat would break the side bonds of the locks and let it to be flatly and smoothly combed. All except for the curliest hair could be made to smoothly and straightly lie through the scalp’s curve.

Big Volume

If you consider your hair similar to the nest of medusa, which is snaky sleek or curls and straight, you could push up your hair’s volume by approaching the obstacle upside down. So, when you’re done shampooing and conditioning, put some hair styling gel to your hair’s scalp ends and simply massage it throughout your hair to dispense it. Comb the hair from end to end using a thick-tooth comb to equally distribute the hair styling product to flip over your head. If you have a curly hair, you might need to evenly spray the hair using a styling spritz, mist gel o hair mist and crease your locks to redefine your curls.

Blunt Bangs

If you wish to make blunt bangs yet you are anxious about maintaining you hair straight, try utilizing a ribbon or headband and wrap around your head to offer you a parameter. Make sure to adjust your guide to your preferred length. Only make cuts below your guide and not otherwise. This would only ensure that you maintain your lines spotless.

Sculpted Curl

At times, you want a hair style that possesses something a bit sundry to it. You prefer a sleek, clean look hair style, yet you don’t like the same slicked back look. So, why not try a finger wave or the sculpted curl, to create a more electrifying look. Treat your locks as if you’re planning to make the slicked back appearance. After applying a hair styling gel, allow it to dry and employ a comb to rupture the gel and make the look of your hair softer. The result will be tidy and clean and visually attractive.

Curls are now back. If you don’t want to curl your hair at the salon, take out your rollers and start curling your hair. You opt for voluptuous waves where the curls start on the mid-strands. You can also do spiral and tight curls or the smooth finger curls and waves.

The newest craze in town- the Boys Over Flowers mania! After the traditional exceptional hit of Meteor Garden, ABS-CBN has come up another famous story of an ordinary girl and four dazzling and prominent guys of F4 in the Korean version, Boys Over Flowers.

Many are actually wondering why this Koreanovela has instantly become a hit in the Philippines though it was just aired barely a month ago. The answer is simple! It was not only because of the beautiful Cinderella-like story but also of the hairstyle that these main cast wear. Just like the Taiwan’s F4, Filipinos became fascinated with their hairstyle a few years ago. Filipinos even tried to mimic their hair cuts just to say that they are updated with the trend.

Asian hairstyles are gaining popularity these days. So, let’s sum up the hairstyle of Boy Over Flowers F4 to have a hint of what you should wear next.

Have you ever asked yourself about the secrets of Kim Bum? Playing the role of So Yi Jung, the hairstyle of Kim Bum is definitely one of his great assets except of course of his attractive chinky eyes and killer smile. Kim Bum is wearing a medium-long straight shag hairstyle which is deemed as a truly conservative Asian hairstyle that is perfect for Asian men. An ideal thing about his hairstyle is that it could fit for almost every career and ever individual.

Song Woo Bin played by Kim Joon is another boy next door member of F4. The Don Juan of F4, he is wearing the same hairstyle as So Yi Jung which makes him perfect to be regarded as a prince of real estate.

Perm hairstyle formerly hit the Korean ladies, now this hair trend has tapped the Korean men. The fame of the wave perm is as well due to the appearance from the famous Korean actors in ad, film and drama who act with their light wavy hair. One of the most new wavy Asian hairstyles is the perm hairstyle of Goo Joon Pyo who was played by Lee Minho. Goo Joon Pyo is now considered another wavy hairstyle trendsetter.

Yoon Ji Hoo, the silent and the shy type of F4 has exposed two Asian hairstyles in the Boys Over Flowers. Played by Kim Hyun Joong, his hair before was medium long and with lighter color. He recently altered it to darker brown short layered hair. His new hairstyle is believed to suit him and makes him look even better.

We’re done with the gentlemen of F4. For the bonus, let’s also talk a bit about the hairstyle of the lead female character of the story.

Geum Jan Di, played by the twenty five-year old Goo Hye Sun. Some people are not in favor of her playing the role because of her age. Wearing a medium bob hairstyle with bangs, Goo Hye Sun looks 8 years younger in the story.

Hairstyles can pretty much determine how a person feel about herself. Most often, than not, people tend to judge you by just looking at your hairdo. A loose messy ponytail can aver your sloppiness or your carefree personality. And whether its embracing change after a bad break-up or impressing the interviewer to land a new job – how you style your hair can either lay open that you’ve moved on or you’re confident of your capabilities.

While its true that your hairstyle does not offer any form of physical strength, it does, however, condition emotional and psychological fortitude.

The jagged and choppy hairstyle (the current popular emo hairstyle) body forth a sad emotional state of mind of an individual. On the other hand, people sporting a punk hairstyle are supposed to be rebellious and antagonistic. A shaved head or a baldy is considered to be bold and empowered while men with a layered hairstyle are regarded to be preppy. Women with silky straight hair are perceived to be more serious, polished, and professional while women with curly locks are more bouncy, cheerful, and quirky.

So here is my confession. My hair is semi-wavy and most of the time it’s messy than sexy. I proved that after my boyfriend’s aunt commented on my unkempt tresses. When my mom offered to have my hair rebonded, I grabbed the opportunity and sat at Coco Salon for four hours. After the session, I was at awe. I definitely looked more polished and more grown-up. Thus began my wardrobe update, but that’s another story.

Yes, your hairstyle can affect your state of mind. A quick trip to the salon can either boost your self-confidence or shatter it when a stylist unintentionally gave you a bad haircut. Style your hair the way you want it to be perceived, and you definitely can’t go wrong.

Maintaining a healthy diet will not only give you more energy and a slender looking body, your tresses, as well, will look better than ever.

My dad always says, “too much of anything is bad”. The key factor in a healthy diet is balance. Eating the right amount of proteins, grains, fruits and vegetables is essential. For a balanced diet, fruits and vegetables should comprise 40-50% of your daily intake.

Now, let’s hark back the days, when we were young and foolish. Back to the days when our mom would nag us to take our vitamins. Moms do know best, vitamins are very important for a healthy hair growth. Vitamin B is especially important for strong hair which can be found in everyday foods such as bread or eggs. If you’re on a low-carb diet, remember that most of the vitamin B that our body needs comes from grains such as oats, barely and wheat bran. For a vitamin B rich non-grain food, you can have avocados, nuts, salmon and eggs.

Drinking enough fluids on a daily basis is important for flushing out the toxins in your system and to keep you hydrated. 8 glasses of water a day are important for both healthy skin and healthy hair. Although I’m a coffee drinker myself, on our next break, let’s drink tea instead of coffee; the latter will only dehydrate your body and work against the benefits of healthy hair. However if you’d really rather drink coffee, just gulp down 1 to 2 glasses of water to wash down the caffeine and to rehydrate your system.

Protein is essential to healthy hair, as hair itself is 98% protein. Meats are a major source of protein. Fish, especially have Omega 3, a good fat that our body needs. Since the popularity of vegan diet is growing, vegetarians can still get a good source of protein from flax seed. Other protein rich foods like nuts, brown rice, soya, chick peas are all healthy options to maintain good protein intake.

Vitamins, water, and protein filled foods are just some of the ways that you can eat well for healthy hair. Starting a routine of healthy eating will not only make your body feel good, but promises to keep your hair healthy and shinning.
