[1 Aug 2010 | No Comment | 2,230 views]

Most people find it really hard to believe that the moment they woke up and took a shower, noticed their scalp itching and then the shocking truth just showed they have huge flakes on their hair. Now, what could have caused it? Is it because of the temperature? Or not using the right shampoo? In my case, the only cause is that, because of the location. I’ve asked several questions about regarding the recent problem I’ve encountered regarding my hair. And majority told me that, the water here in Saudi is just too harsh or has strong effects because of the chlorine in their water. No wonder for the first two weeks here, I’ve shown signs of excessive flaking and dryness in my scalp. Their tap water taste salty and who would ever want to try to drink that? Women from the Philippines that have worked here have experienced hair loss and their remedy for this flake madness was just a matter of concern and effort to fetch the sweet water (”distilled water”) in our drinking water station.  Filipino men shows concern also with regards to their hair loss after the excessive flaking, they have endured it for few years of staying here and others unfortunately, turned out bald.

For those of you who have plans to work here in Saudi just prepare, for it may come to worst dealing with excessive flakes on your hair would be the challenge. Hair care needs more attention in order to avoid dryness and the fact itself due to harsh climate, one would realize that there’s no hope for that. Hair care maintenance is just a matter of technique, the right water needed and the shampoo best suited would have to be mild for your hair and scalp.
