Hair ConfessionFairy Tale Curls
I stand at the huge gym entrance on JS Promenade wearing a satin lavender strapless ball gown at floor-length. I had my hair pulled back loosely at the back and on the side tighter but left some curls around the face for a softer look. I walk towards the crowd feeling good about how I managed to keep my hair up and everybody turned to look. And then my prince charming walk closer and held up his hands for a dance. Music was on and there we go with my prince charming looking so prince charming. A fairy tale comes true. And the clock turns 12! My beautifully pulled back hair magically turned to frizzy huge bushy …curly hair!
I opened my eyes and stared to the yellow painted ceiling. I was dreaming again. I got up from bed and went to the bathroom. Looking at my image at the mirror I can’t help but smile. Round face, sharp eyes, visible dimples on both cheeks and curly hair. Yes! I have curly hair. I walked the streets and look at the girls with glossy straight hair and for a moment I thought they must have been good on their past lives. For years I’ve been on a goose hunt how to make my curly hair straight. And guess what I found a goose- Love your curls! So instead of fighting Mother Nature I resolved to
1st step: admitted that I am powerless over my curly hair and my life had become unmanageable.
2nd: come to believe to the power of being naturally curly girl.
3rd: Made a decision to stop torturing my hair from chemicals and ironing techniques and fourth and fifth to complete to twelve steps.
I learned how to manage it and my life had never been better. And hey it looks good when I tie it up leaving some ringlets on my face to bring a softer look. I never rubbed towel when drying them up I blot them. Using smoothing-cream and alcohol free gel did help a lot and put away the blow dryer. I could go on and on here but bottom line “Oh it’s wonderful”!
Finally, I dance the floor wearing my curly hair with pride. No magic, no tricks just curl. That’s the real fairy tale. -DSC
