[18 Jun 2009 | No Comment | 1,570 views]

Whether you wish to eliminate those gray hair or you simply want to alter your look, hair dying is an ideal way to attain it. Unluckily, hair dying involves consequences that might harm and dry your tresses when used incorrectly. The chosen color of your hair dye must unify with your hair’s original color in order to improve your features. It is good to do some experimenting, but dyes could be harsh on your tresses when frequently used. Though it is ideal to have your hair dyed at a specialized hair stylist or salon, it is much affordable at home with similar artistic effect.

There are different kinds of hair dye that are accessible. These are:

1. Permanent dye

While permanently hair dying is considered by some as a mistake, the evident benefit is that it could really last for a longer time. The dye contains peroxides and ammonia, which could probably lead to damage and dryness. Too much exposure to salt water as well as sun may cause the color to lighten. That is why so as to maintain its color, it is ideal to cover your locks with a bandana or a hat when going outside of the house.

2. Semi-Permanent (long lasting) dye

As its name applies, it has the longest life lasting even after over twenty washes.

3. Semi-Permanent dye

Of the three types of hair dye, this is the type that has the shortest lifespan. Its color begins to fade after six to twelve washes. This kind of hair dye is best recommended for beginners or those who would like to experiment with dyes.

How do you perform hair dying?

- Divide your locks into two quadrants. Clip each part.

- Always wear plastic gloves even when mixing the hair dye solution. Then, follow the instruction.

- Press a small quantity of hair coloring into the first quadrant. Strip thin streaks of color on the entire area of the quadrant. Place a clip on the dyed area.

- Repeat the procedure once you have completed dying the four quadrants.

- Read the instruction on how long it should remain on your hair. Wait to the advised time.

- Place the left over hair dye mix onto your hair after some minutes.

- Rinse using cold water.
